Water Spring Source
The spring appears at the crest of a pericline (anticline) structure, which is covered by layers of conglomerate. (Photo 6.1) At the spring's location, the thickness of the conglomerate significantly decreases, and the transitional layers and Eocene limestones appear. Through faults and fractures, in the uppermost part of the anticline, the groundwater finds an outlet to the surface. Monitoring of the spring's diet revealed a complex feeding mechanism. The aquifer is composed of the limestones of the northeastern limb of the anticline of Mount Douskos. The spring has a mean discharge of 0.245 m3/sec and the average temperature is 12 0C. .
