2.5 OVERTHRUST FAULT This is a compressional tectonic structure created at the thrust front of the Pindos zone over the Ionian zone. The impressive anticlinal structure of the limestones of the Ionian zone is the result of the strong compressional stresses and movements that took place during the Middle Miocene (20 million years ago).
