It is one of the most important neotectonic structures in Epirus (Figs. 6.4 and 6.2 and 6.3). It is a large zone of normal faults striking NE-SW, extending for 25 km with impressive mirror surfaces. This fault brings limestones into contact with flysch and Quaternary formations. Its presence is linked to contemporary seismic activity, meaning it is an active seismic fault. Its maximum displacement reaches 1000 metres. Large springs emerge along the fault.
