The Konitsa area and the Tymphis mountain range are an open-air laboratory of the natural processes that took place and shaped the impressive landscape. A good, easily accessible spot from which visitors can get a panoramic view of the western part of the National Park is located on the Ioannina – Konitsa national road, a few metres after the junction to Vasiliko. The striking changes in the landscape are impressive, determined to a significant extent by the presence of normal, long faults with large vertical displacements.
From this vantage point, we enjoy panoramic views of the region's physiognomy. The rapid, deep erosion by the Aoos and Voidomatis rivers has created deep gorges with vertical cliffs, while in the flatter areas, river deposits and vertical changes have left their mark in the form of river terraces.
