Participation of the Vikos-Aoos UNESCO Global Geopark in the 15th European Geoparks Conference

The Vikos-Aoos Geopark, as a member of the Global
UNESCO Global Geoparks, participated in the 44th Meeting of
Coordinating Committee of the European Network
Geoparks and at the 15th European Geoparks Conference, which took place in
UNESCO Global Geopark of Sierra Norte de Seville, from 23rd to
27 September 2019.
We were given the opportunity, as were all international
our participation, to have meetings with colleagues from other Geoparks, to
learn about their Geoparks' practices and management and how
we can leverage all this experience that has been developed in
Global Geoparks.
The great family of Geoparks is growing year by year
with time. 147 UNESCO Global Geoparks in
41 countries, of which 75 are in Europe. Hundreds of geoscientists,
scientists from other specialities and staff from Geoparks from all over the world
presented their activities in geoconservation, geo-education and
sustainable development. We exchanged views, participated in workshops and discussed
for future collaborations with other Greek and European Geoparks. We renewed
our appointment for March 2020 at the 45th Coordination Meeting
of the European Geoparks Network Committee at Papuk UNESCO Global Geopark,
Croatia.
