The Drakolimni, one of the three Alpine lakes of Pindus, is located at the summit of Tymfi, at an altitude of 2050 m. Its location and overall appearance create an exceptional landscape, a destination for thousands of hikers, and highlight the conditions of its formation by the last glacier. In the waters of Drakolimni lives the Alpine Newt (tritus alpestris), an amphibian measuring 8 – 12 cm with a grey – brownish-black back and a reddish belly without spots.
