What is a Geopark?
The Geopark area occupies the northwestern part of the Regional Unit of Ioannina in the Region of Epirus and more specifically, the greater part of the Municipalities of Zagori and Konitsa. The area is dominated by the high mountains of Northern Pindus: Tymfi, Smolikas, Trapezitsa, and Nemertika, as well as other smaller ones. The rivers of the area belong almost entirely to the Aoos river basin and, besides it, include the Voidomatis and Sarandaporos.
