A place of human habitation at the end of the Late Upper Palaeolithic period. The site gradually changed from a place of occasional passage, 14,000-12,000 years ago, to an area of intensive activity. The Boila rock shelter is located at the exit of the Voidomatis gorge towards the lowland section and a few metres from the old stone arched bridge of Kleidonia. Its creation is due to the erosion by the Voidomatis River of Upper Cretaceous limestones, which was favoured by the vertical joints and faults. At the base of the rock shelter, there are limestone pebbles, sands and gravels, materials from a river terrace which indicate the older position of the riverbed.

[23

post-6744","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-geotopoi
["GET
